American White Pelican

Posted by Kenton (Calgary, Canada) on 21 August 2008 in Animal & Insect.

On the Bow River in Calgary there is a weir that redirects some of the water for irrigation purposes. At this point the fish can't go any farther upstream. The Pelicans that migrate through here in the spring have decided that this is a good place to stay. In a couple of years this weir will no longer exist, right now however, it is a great place to get good pictures of these fascinating birds.

I always appreciate feedback and constructive criticism. Thanks for stopping by.
